Go on a scenic drive through the Bernese Oberland, over stunning mountain passes along glaciers and lakes. We pass the Grimselpass and drive up the Furkapass where you will visit the Rhone glacier and walk through the ice getaway. On the way back we stop at the Grimselpass and the lakes and enjoy a Swiss picnic.
Our next stop is Handeck where you will visit the local cheese shop. Taste real alpine Cheese. From the shop it is a short walk over a spectacular Swing bridge to the bottom station of Europe’s steepest funicular “The Gelmerbahn”. After an adventurous and breathtaking ride up to the top, the wonderful alpine world awaits you. Enjoy a walk along the hidden green-blue glacier. On our way back to Interlaken we stop at Iseltwald, a charming traditional Swiss village at the picturesque lake of Brienz. The tour ends back in Interlaken.
Rhone Glacier is the largest glacier in the Urner Alps. It is a glacier in the Swiss Alps and the source of the river Rhone and one of the primary contributors to Lake Geneva in the far eastern end of the Swiss canton of Valais.
The Gelmerbahn funicular is a funicular railway station in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. It links the lower terminus at Handegg, in the Haslital (the valley of the upper Aar River) with an upper terminus at the Gelmersee Lake. It is the steepest funicular in Switzerland and Europe.
